My dear Sir, [Robo Robert Browning] Let me thank you sincerely for two volumes of such real poetry. Your wife must be a very sweet woman to have originated such a series of sonnets. I have long noticed your Athenaeum poems but these seem specially beautiful – I suppose love makes them to – “a more ideal artist” than us all. – I so often get poems that however grateful one feels – it is trying to say more than “thank you” for – that these two volumes are an especial treat – And if you & your wife should ever be in England – I trust you will find me out & allow me personally to thank you. With all kind wishes – believe me Yours sincerely Dinah Mulock – Upper Terrace Cottage Hampstead Heath Jan January 21st – 1859 – All the anonymous poems in Chambers for the last seven years – have been mine. – ToolboxHide page breaks Themes: Default Sleepy Time Terminal Letter from Dinah Mulock Craik to Robert Browning, 21 January 1859.
