					line, which we have silently emended. Where Craik uses a non-standard spelling, we
					have encoded both her spelling and the standard Oxford English Dictionary spelling to
					faciliate searching. The long s is not encoded.</p>

				<p><handShift corresp="CraikSiteIndex.xml#DMC"/>Let me thank you sincerely for two
					volumes of such real poetry. Your <rs type="person"
						ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#BrowningElizabethBarrett">wife</rs> must be a very
					sweet woman to have originated such a series of sonnets. I have long noticed
					your <title corresp="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Athenaeum">Athenaeum</title> poems but
					these seem specially beautiful – I suppose love makes them to – “a more ideal
					artist” than us all. – </p>
				<p>I so often get poems that however grateful one feels – it is trying to say more
					than “thank you” for – that these two volumes are an especial treat – And if you
					&amp; your <rs type="person" ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#BrowningElizabethBarrett"
						>wife</rs> should ever be in <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#England"
						>England</placeName> – I trust you will find me out &amp; allow me
					personally to thank you.</p>

I so often get poems that however grateful one feels – it is trying to say more than “thank you” for – that these two volumes are an especial treat – And if you & your wife should ever be in England – I trust you will find me out & allow me personally to thank you.
