                    Still, may I be allowed a humble criticism. – “Douglas-Douglas” – is a sharp
                    out-cry – always of pain – &amp; the interval <del rend="strikethrough"
                        >which</del> to my mind should be an ascending interval – &amp; a repetition
                    of <add place="above">the</add> same notes – the accidental flats I like
                    extremely. – In the rhythm of “<title corresp="AsILay">As I lay</title>” – in
                    last verse, I would make the crotchet<anchor xml:id="n2"/> G into two
                        quavers<anchor xml:id="n3"/> &amp; come down for “lay” after an E crotchet.
                    – And my notion was that it ended quite softly – in a burst of weeping – not <choice>
                        <abbr>ff</abbr>
