My dear Mrs. Longstaff

Little did I think when I called at Bristo St. about six weeks ago – & found you away: that this sad news would be the next I should have from you.

Most deeply do I feel for your loss of that good warm tender heart – for so I am sure it must have been. – All I knew of him – & that brief sight of him – will now take a special sanctity. – Do not sorrow “without hope” – think of your little child – a part of him – to bring up for him. –

Write to me when you can bear to do it. – & believe me – with deepest sympathy,

Yours most sincerely, DinahMulock Wildwood Hampstead Oct October 12th
