                    come – It will be pleasant though to think how kind you all were in asking me. – </p>
                <p>I go home North tomorrow for a good while: meaning to settle at <placeName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#WemyssBay">Wemyss Bay</placeName> – if I get the
                    chance of a wee cottage I have set my heart on. <persName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#MissJames">Marian</persName> told me all about you
                    all. Every kind &amp; good wish to <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#LaneEdward"
                        >Dr.</persName> and <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#LaneMary">Mrs.
                        Lane</persName> – &amp; the children - &amp; your own dear self. – </p>

Your most kind letter is just like you. But indeed Marian said truth – I can't come – It will be pleasant though to think how kind you all were in asking me. –

I go home North tomorrow for a good while: meaning to settle at Wemyss Bay – if I get the chance of a wee cottage I have set my heart on. Marian told me all about you all. Every kind & good wish to Dr. and Mrs. Lane – & the children - & your own dear self. –

I have been packing – & it is quite past midnight – so goodbye.
