                    accurately as possible without reproducing the physical appearance of the
                    manuscript. Craik’s spelling, punctuation, underlining, superscripts,
                    abbrieviations, additions and deletions are retained, except for words which are
                    hyphenated at the end of a line, which we have silently emended. Where Craik
                    uses a non-standard spelling, we have encoded both her spelling and the standard
                    Oxford English Dictionary spelling to faciliate searching. The long s is not
                    encoded.</p>

                <p> I was much pleased on the receipt of your present we shall all enjoy the reading
                    of it particularly my <rs type="person" ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#ReadeElizabeth"
                        >Daughter</rs> I shall be glad when you can come to see us for a short time.
                    if July would be convenient to you I think it will be the pleasantest for us
                    both <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#ReadeElizabeth">Lizzie</persName> being a
                    morning governess you would have so little of her company, and she hopes to have
                    holiday that month if you are fond of bathing you might go together.</p>
                <p><persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#MulockBen">Ben</persName> often comes to see us
                    and we like to have him and consider him one of the family I am happy to say he
                    is looking very well living at <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Waterloo"
                        >Waterloo</placeName> does him good. <persName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#ReadeWilliam">Mr. Reade</persName> and all my
                    children unite with me in kind remembrance</p>

I was much pleased on the receipt of your present we shall all enjoy the reading of it particularly my Daughter I shall be glad when you can come to see us for a short time. if July would be convenient to you I think it will be the pleasantest for us both Lizzie being a morning governess you would have so little of her company, and she hopes to have holiday that month if you are fond of bathing you might go together.

Ben often comes to see us and we like to have him and consider him one of the family I am happy to say he is looking very well living at Waterloo does him good. Mr. Reade and all my children unite with me in kind remembrance

and believe me my my dear Niece Your affectionate Aunt Mary Reade
